Mobile pantry today

Today I was at a mobile food pantry.  A lot of volunteer effort goes on at this kind of pantry.  More than 160 people came through.  It is very humbling to see people who need food.  It is a shame that in America of all places there are people who don't have enough to eat.

Day 2

Today was packed with information, computer programs, systems............and a tour of the warehouse.  It is an amazing place!  Food has to go out quickly to avoid spoiling and there is limited space available.  Very few paid people - majority is all volunteers.  Absolutely amazing.  And everyone is genuine and friendly.

Tomorrow will be a work day for me as I establish my files, enter some things, plan out some visits.  This is an incredible opportunity to touch a lot of people and see great things happening!

First Day at Second Harvest Food Bank!

My first day went very well -- lots of things to learn, new faces and names - but all people with a mission to help end hunger.  I was certainly not a square peg in a round hole for once - in fact, the CEO asked me about myself and I said that I was usually the square peg but was feeling like I belonged there, and he stood up and shook my hand and introduced himself as a Square Peg!  I like that.  Tomorrow I get to go through the warehouse and see how things work out there.  Later in the week, I will be going to two mobile food pantry sites.  They don't have a building, the semi or truck pulls up to the designated site, the volunteers throw up their tables and do some sorting, and away they go giving out food to the eligible people who are waiting.  It should be very interesting.

I'm really really tired now.  I didn't sleep much last night, nervous you know.  Plus, the dog was pigging all of the covers.  He is like moving a bag of wet cement and he grunts and groans and mutters if you try.

Jim had his aneurysm ultrasound today to check on how it was looking.  It is no bigger and no smaller than it was 3 months ago so we can wait another 3 months and look at it again.

God is good!  All the time!

Square Peg, Round Hole

For the square peg in a round hole challenge at Squigglefly, I chose Tea Roses which can be purchased here:   http://www.squigglefly.com/index.php/shop/tea-roses
It’s a A2 card size just folded and cut within the Nestability shown in the 2nd picture.  I often do this and keep the folded edge of the card inside the template so it doesn’t cut my card in two.  I used a white card and "xyronned"  the image to the front and distress the edge of the nestability with Wild Honey Distress Ink.  Very subtle.  I also used a starlight clear sparkly gel pen on the flower pets edges and the edges of the dish.

I am also a square peg in a round hole - or at least it feels that way most times!

For this Squigglefly challenge, we were to "case" a DT member and I cased my mom, Linda Weber. She and I have done lots of different color combinations with this image. Since my nickname is Queen Bee, I use it alot!

Queen BeeArtist: Suzanne Urban

I'm having fun with my new copics! I love to color - my sister and I and my mom all like to color. I bought a new BIG box of crayons at Christmas time for the grandkids - er- ok, me. Anyway, my nickname is Queen Bee. Someone called me that more than 15 years ago in a derogatory way but a friend of mine turned it into a funny nickname. And it is descriptive of me I admit it. Someone has to be the Queen Bee! This is a great Squigglefly image!

Here is the link to the challenge I entered this into (thanks mom for reminding me!)
